Srinagar, July 7(KNB): Authorities on Wednesday reopened all gardens and parks for local tourists after the gap of more than three months, following Pandemic Covid-19.

Amid, gradual unlocking process of the lockdown Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan on Tuesday announced the reopening of tourist spots  throughout J&K for the general public directing them to follow all the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).

“We are very much pleased and excited after the government reopened the picnic spots as at this time when every other person is quite depressed, it was the need of the hour. I have come here at Nishat with one of my friend and we are following the SOP’s as it is for our own safety,” One of the local tourists at Nishat garden told news agency Kashmir News Bureau.

Although the crowd was not as usual as it used to be before the lockdown, a large number of people crammed together, wearing face masks, eager to experience the great outdoors after months of travel restrictions and strict lockdown measures.

“I have come here with my children who used to visit the gardens most often in normalcy and after yesterday’s announcement they are so much happy as it was not only a lockdown but our children are in stress from past one year, and now they are relaxed and stress free after the outing.” said another tourist at Botanical garden.

Pertinently, the tourism sector of the valley is going through its worst phase since August 2019 when the government bifurcated the state into two union territories following which a giant lockdown of almost five months was witnessed shattering all the sectors of society.(KNB)
