GHSS Laridora without Principal from last two years, students suffer

Baramulah, Jan 30(KNB):There is no shortage of examples where schools have been without heads and principals for several years, one of the example is Government Higher Secondary School Laridora Narwara area of north Kashmir’s district Baramulla which is functioning headless since from two years.




A student, Majid-ul-hak said, “it has been more than two years, our institute is headless, it inevitably impacts the quality of education,”

“When school lack a strong foundation, and direction, learning is compromised and we the students suffer the most.” he further said.

As per the students, Abdul Hameed Lone, the former principal of the institute, has retired in June 2017,and till now the post of principal is vacant, the school is running under the Incharge principle, Tej pal singh.

One more student Saqib, said,” our school is our family and a family without head is nothing, we are facing tremendous problems including lack of infrastructure, everything is pending, as we don’t have a head to discuss with.”

Incharge Principal, Tej Pal Singh said, ” the principal is having the DDO power, but in the absence of principal, this power goes in the hands of other school, the salary has not been released and the school  is facing some other problems also, we are appealing to higher authorities to appoint a principal so that he can release salaries, bills and make our school run smoothly.”


While talking to CEO Baramulah, he said,”There was a court issue due to which promotion process was freezed.Now, the issue is sorted out, and the principal to the said School will be provided soon.”

When Kashmir News bureau contacted, Director of School Education, G.N.Yitoo, said, “we are going to promote about 150 posts for Principal grade,” he assured that the problem will be sorted out very soon and will provide the principal to the said school.(KNB)
