Hailstorm Destroys Crops In Kokernag, Officials Assess Damage

Tehsil teams have been sent to ascertain crop losses due to hailstorm in Kokernag, officials said

Anantnag 30 September (KNB): Hundreds of acres of crops were damaged on Sunday after hailstorm hit some Kokernag village of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.


According to reports reached to Kashmir News bureau that “The hailstorm, which lasted 15 minutes in some parts of Kokernag villages, transformed the green fields into white, which costs loss to farmers.”

They said “the rice crop in Kokernag was covered with hail in just over fifteen minutes. This year the farmers were expecting a rich dividend for their labour. However, the hailstorm crushed their expectations within minutes.

“Tehsil teams have been sent to ascertain the loss and the report will be out soon, “No casualty has been reported,” said SDM Kokernag Mohammad Rouf Rahman. (KNB)
