‘If coronavirus doesn’t kill us, hunger will’: Non local labourers

Srinagar, April 06 (KNB): Non-local labourers at Lasipora district Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir in an extreme rage alleged that they are at the verge of starvation as the Government is not providing them with sufficient food.

Group of non-local labourers alleged that after the announcement of lockdown amid COVID-19 they were taken away from their rented rooms and kept in a government building where they are being deprived from the basic facilities as one room is shared by 14 people, moreover  they are not being provided by the sufficient food leading to starvation.

One of the non-local labourer, Muhammad Mumtaz from Bihar out bursted in anger said, “On one hand the government says to maintain 

one  metre distance from each other and on the other hand they are pushing 14 people in a single room, what kind of Justice is it, it is better to go back home rather than staying here and starving to death, as government is providing  cup of ‘dal’ along with two to three onions to the whole grouop which is completely cruelty.”

He further said, ” Deadly disease won’t kill us but the hunger will definitely, we don’t want to stay here and just want government to send us back to our homes.” (KNB)
