Srinagar, July 30 (KNB): The people of the Kashmir valley particularly those coming under BPL (below the poverty line) category appealed to the Governors administration to waive off Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans as they have undergone a heavy loss incurred due to the highway restrictions, premature snowfall in November last year and recent hailstorms.




According to a survey, alone by the highway restrictions, the economy of the state of Jammu and Kashmir faces risk of whopping two thousand crore rupees loss thus affecting the economic sectors across the horizon that includes the agriculture as well as the horticulture sectors of the valley.

In another case of huge economic loss, the people especially the apple growers of the state witnessed touching 500 crore damage by the early snowfall in November last year. Although, the snowfall brought cheer to the tourism industry but turned out to be bane for apple growers.

Similarly, in last month’s unfortunate event, the hailstorm struck the orchards and crops in the districts of Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Baramulla and Kupwara thus hurting the already people’s ailing economic state catalyzing the loss climb a new height and depressing the people deepest economically and mentally.

Taking to the Kashmir News Bureau (KNB), an apple grower from Budgam said, “The economic state of the people, especially farmers and orchardists trembled to roots due to the immense loss caused by the natural calamities we experienced this year and in the later part of the last year (referring to this year’s hailstorm and November 2018 snowfall).”




He added, “So, we appeal the governor of the state to waive off the KCC loan”

Another fruit grower from Pulwama, Aurbaz Ahmad, “The natural calamities devastated the varieties of fruits and vegetables in Pulwama district so, in this regard, we appeal to the higher authorities of the state to lighten up our KCC burden to get relaxation to some extent.” (KNB)
