Kashmir witnesses deadly March 2018

Srinagar, Mar 31 (KNB): March is the month of hope and expectation and also known as month of women history. In Kashmir the year 2018 March would be remembered as month of violence and pain. On 4th March, two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant and four civilians, also alleged to be over ground workers for the militant group by the army, were killed in a firing incident in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

On 12 March, the slain militant Eisa Fazili, a BTech graduate from Buchpora Srinagar and other two militants was killed in an encounter in south Kashmir. On 23 March, Two Jaish-e-Mohammad militants were killed in a brief gunfight overnight at Dooru area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

On 28 March, Four militants were killed in a gunfight with security forces in the Sunderbani area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. A policeman was killed after militants attacked his house in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bijbehara area on Thursday (March 29). The police officer, Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh, was injured when militants fired at his residence. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries the way and his wife was also critically injured.

On 24 March A local Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant. was killed in an encounter with security forces in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, on 20 and 21 March in the nearly 48-hour gun battle in the dense Kupwara forest in north Kashmir five security personnel, including three Army jawans and two policemen, dead and an equal number of militants were killed.

Besides bloodshed, shutdowns and curbs on internet in many areas defined the life in Kashmir during the March 2018, and was among the deadliest march’s in recent memory.

Even on the last day of the month, a policeman was shot dead by militants in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district while as one was injured in similar attack. (KNB)
