Kupwara,Jan 28(KNB) :Dozens of people including men,women and children protested against setting ablaze of holy Quran and other religious relics in masjid sharief shartpora krusan Lolab of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Residents of shartpora krusan Lolab alleged that copies of holy Quran and an adjacent mosque were set ablaze during night hours and locals found it when they went there for (Fajr) morning prayers on Monday.
The incident has sparked a massive outcry as people have been coming out of their homes to protest. Protesters said that matting and few copies of Holy Quran was burned by unknown persons during the night hours.
Hundreds of people from the adjoining areas took out a procession earlier and later assembled in main chowk wavoora Lolab.
The protests were going on when last reports came in.(KNB)
