Molvi arrested in North Kashmir for thrashing a minor student

Srinagar, May 31 (KNB): In a startling development, Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested a Molvi for allegedly assaulting a minor student at a seminary in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, an official said today.

“Taking cognizance of a video clip circulated on social media wherein an 8-year-old boy is being seen hung upside down and physically assaulted by Molvi of a local Dasrgah, Police Station Baramulla has registered a Case FIR NO 86/2018 under sections of 342, 323 RPC and 24 Juvenile justice Act 2013,” he said.

He said the accused teacher, identified as Molvi Mushtaq Ahmed Dar, resident of Batpora Tangmarg, presently residing at Iqbal Colony Baramulla, has been arrested by the police.

“Further investigation into the matter is going on,” he said.

On the otherhand, the viral video had triggered angry reactions from the netizens, who demanded immediate action against the accused. (KNB)
