Safina Nabi selected for Professional Fellows Programme 

Srinagar, Jul 30 (KNB): Safina Nabi, a journalism student pass out of Kashmir University’s MERC department has been selected to participate in the Professional Fellows programme for governance and society, south and central Asia.
The programme is sponsored by US department of state and will commence from October 13 to November 17 this year. The fellows programme is a two-way exchange project for professionals and young leaders from Pakistan, India, Nepal, and the US.
The participants have been invited to gain an understanding of the U.S. legislative and political process and explore  governance principles besides  practices in public and civil society institutions.
“The programme is aimed to enhance our appreciation for the role of civil society in the political process and gain a deeper understanding of U.S. society, culture, and people,” said Safina, who hails Pampore town of south Kashmir.
The programme is expected to play a role in creating linkages and networks between Americans and
other Professional Fellows and increase cooperation between the government and civil society of India and Pakistan.
Safina graduated from Kashmir University in 2013 and since then has been actively working in and outside state.
She worked as an associate with Perfect relations for two years majorly working on government clients like Delhi government. She also worked for an organization called Kamonohashi where they highlighted the loopholes of anti trafficking bill.
Safina Nabi will be one of 32 participants selected from hundreds of applicants.
The fellows will be travelling to Washington D.C. for the program and will be associated with organizations relevant to their fields of work.
“The fellows are supposed to plan a project  when they return to their home country that needs to be implemented ideally with the support of an American counterpart,” she said. (KNB)
