Srinagar, Dec 30 (KNB): National skill development corporation (NSDC) was started in year 2011 in Jammu and Kashmir to hone the skills of those youngesters who cannot move out of state for work either because of lack of awareness about various corporate jobs or because they do not have the requisite skills needed
NSDC with the help of many local NGOs have started providing training to the unskilled youth to train them for many sectors in and outside Kashmir.
Our correspondent visited skill development centres in Sopore .

“There are two domains that we teach here, Information technology and fashion designing. The duration of the course is 3-6 months after which the pass-outs are placed at various IT centres, Shopping malls and many other places and the students who are enrolled in designing either create their own self help groups or open up boutiques to earn their livelihood As the students here are mostly school dropouts,so for them finding jobs with good salary package is mostly impossible but after passing from here they not only get good jobs but they are placed outside India even sometimes which gives them a lifetime experience, said Sheikh Adil ,a trainer at one of the centres.
Not only are youth trained for various skills but their communication skills are also enhanced.
Another trainer at the centre said” that it’s compulsory for them besides these skills to learn communicative English so that they are ready to face any challenge ahead”.
These centres also provide for the boarding and lodging of the candidates and travel expenses if they get placed here.
A trainee at the centre said that “she is very happy to get enrolled in this centre as they provide  free of cost training and even help us to create our self help groups to earn our livelihood” (KNB)
