Anantnag 30 July (KNB): Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Kutto Village of Anantnag district in south Kashmir following specific information about the presence of militants there, the official said.
As the forces were conducting the search operations, the militants fired upon them, which led to a gun battle in which the two militants were killed, he said.
The militant was identified as Top JeM Commander Fayaz Panzoo Resident Of Panzoo Tral and Shaan Showkat Resident Of Aswara Kanalwan.
According to official, Panzoo was involved in attack on CRPF personnel at Anantnag town on June 12 in which five CRPF men were killed and SHO Arshad Khan was seriously injured and later succumbed to injuries. (KNB)
