Shopian, May 03(KNB): Two militants have been killed in an onging encounter at Imam sahib area of Shopian on Friday.
As per the reports, two militants were killed in an encounter that broke out between government forces and militants in Adkhara area of Imam sahib in Shopian.
A joint team of Army’s 34 RR and SoG Shopian launched cordon and search operation in Adkhara Imam sahib area following credible inputs about the presence of militants in the area, soon after the joint team of forces intensified the search towards the suspected spot, militants opened fire which was retaliated leading to an encounter.
The slain militants have been identified as Tarik Molvi of Chitrgam and Lateef Tiger of Burhan group.
Authorities have suspended the internet service in Shopian district.
Meanwhile, youth took to streets and clashed with the forces near the gunfight site.(KNB)
